Quail Ridge, California

The wine owner’s estate was conceived to be a sophisticated yet rustic agrarian farmhouse, one that blurs the line between inside and outside, designed by Howard Backen (https://www.backenarch.com/winemakers-residence ), whose past works include landmark wineries such as Harlan, Larkmead, Rams Gate, Ovid, Napa Valley Reserve, Meadowood, Dana Estates, and many of the massive Restoration Hardware showcase stores around the world. “Rancho Puerto del Cielo” encompasses elegant minimalism, simplicity and uncluttered clean lines, high ceilings, large motorized windows and doors, and organic colors and natural materials. It is a visual, tactile, auditory sensory kaleidoscope of an interpretation of a Napa lifestyle intermixed with memories and collections brought back by the owner’s world travels. The barn, with its great hall that is magnificently illuminated by giant custom-built antler chandeliers, has a tasting room, pool hall, tank room, as well as outdoor patios overlooking the beautiful vineyard and mountain views, and is used to manage larger gatherings as well as providing a place to make the owner’s experimental wine blend of each vintage.
